PICTURES IN PAINT Alan Spackman
Alan Spackman has been an artist-in-residence at CULTURE AT WORK for eight months.The artist has been making paintings that investigate the conventional genres of easel painting. The paintings are oil on canvas and timber panel.
“The paintings have been made from referencing photography, my own and found images from image search engines. One of Paintings greatest historical moments was when the scientific invention and popularity of photography revolutionised paintings future to be both abstract and representational.”

Alan Spackman studied a Masters of Art (Art History and Museum Studies) at University of Sydney, a Masters of Art (Painting) at the University of Wollongong and Visual Arts at Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney.
Alan’s Research interests are: Modernism, Australian, European and American Art , Pop, Minimalism, Conceptual Art, New Media. He has travelled in Australia, Africa, Britain, Europe, Japan, USA. Alan lived in Italy 2000-2001.
